You are now admiring my custom made post War vintage Monarch MFG. The make of a vintage jacket that I have made my concentration for reproducing. I greatly admire it’s style, comfort and look. In this case, all patterned using an original same war era half belt Monarch jacket that I restored and a part of my personal collection. Above all others, this particular jacket is my most favorite vintage jacket maker for both civilian & Mil Spec jackets. One can be custom built for you in sizes 36 through 48. Let me tell you all about it! Your half belt can be built using one of two different methods. The cut of the jacket and the side cinch half belt gives this jacket a very distinctive look and feel. One of the two types is best suited for an athletic build. If sized correctly an absolute pleasure to wear. Otherwise a slightly more forgiving jacket with more gut room can be built. As seen in the descriptive image with the cinch belt set adjacent to he hem. This jacket’s outer shell is black pigment vegetable tanned horsehide. My horsehide was acquired from Italy by a minimum order and specially made for my use. This particular hide is the hard finish or non quickly wearing topcoat type hide known in some circles as Vicenza or Victory. The hide is a uniform thickness & a medium weight which will require some break in but only just. However, goat hide can be used as a more economical alternative. A couple of those optional goat hides can be seen in those last four descriptive images. All stitched both inside and out using 100% cotton thread as originally produced. All buttonhole work done with my USA made vintage Reece 101 Keyhole Buttonhole machine (same machine as used back in the day and also rebuilt by me) & to perfection. Not withstanding and among the five different machines that I will utilize to build your jacket is the exact same machine Monarch MFG. Now utilized as a standard on all of my builds complete. To include the inner sleeve seam which was always seen done on all original Monarch jackets. A time consuming procedure and subsequently rarely seen done by most. An example of that inner sleeve’s French seam (always done originally by Monarch on their jackets back in the day) can be seen on that last two descriptive images. On the inside, a semi smooth shirt weight that is 100% wool A cotton drill utilized for the sleeves. All duplicating lining choices by this same maker. As an option inset cuffs can also be attached. All as seen done on my original same era Monarch half belt model jackets. All constructed using Monarch’s characteristic ultra comfortable inset & rotated sleeve system. Just another attribute that makes this jacket so great. In addition & as an upgrade to the sleeve assembly I can do a half gusset as originally seen used on 1940s era Monarch MFG. More often than not only seen utilized by high end Japanese jacket maker FREEWHEELERS and an option I have perfected. A few mention-able standard upgrades that will be found on your jacket will include the two inside pockets. One of which is a welted pocket. On the left lapel is a map/pistol pocket with snap that is designed after Monarch’s (M-422 & AN-J-3A) type jackets, well supported & very functional for concealed carrying. This jacket offered here exactly duplicates Monarch’s War era model half belt jackets and seen in the first four images. Done without an action back. One of the many optional back panel build’s can be seen in the subsequent descriptive images. Others are also available and please contact me to discuss. Since I made this particular make jacket my concentration, from within my personal jacket collection I have over 20 original vintage Monarch jackets In both civilian an military models. Not to mention, in every Size 36 through 50 as an excellent reference source. Once patterned most all were then painstakingly restored by me. While apart & prior to restoration I pattern each. As a result I know this particular make jacket both inside and out! To further explain the optional more roomy jacket (as seen on the 7th descriptive image), while it looks close to the same from the front, it does not have the hour glass shaped of the true half belt. Created by making a slightly wider interim panel that is situated underneath the arm pits. That fore mentioned jacket’s cut is more roomy. Thus giving the wearer a bit more breathing room. I’ve included a pic of an optional (black colored) vegetable tanned goat hide as seen 9th provided image. Currently, I have horsehide available in black, russet and brown colors. In addition I recently completed another minimum order of 100% vegetable tanned goat hide and added a few more colors. Currently available in either black, russet, seal brown & chocolate brown colors. In addition & as an upgrade to the sleeve assembly I can do a half gusset as seen in the #10 & #12 descriptive images. Recently I have made available a half gusset sleeve set up. Only after sourcing four original half gusseted 1930s vintage jackets to study. All of which are now apart of my personal collection. More often than not only seen utilized by high end Japanese jacket maker FREEWHEELERS and an option I have now perfected. An additional option for this build is the yoked triple pleated action back panel as seen in the last two (#11 & #12) descriptive image of the russet colored half belt jackets. The last of which was also done with half gusseted sleeves. The #10 image is one of the same examples seen in the descriptive attachments being worn. Currently, no less than 6 months out from my next scheduled build. Please contact me David Sheeley with any questions!
